Celebrate Spring with Lenny and the Boys
It’s hard to imagine a more joyful way to welcome spring back to Bucks County—and celebrate the 100th year of Leonard Bernstein’s birth—than with the legendary composer’s beloved Chichester Psalms accompanied by harp, timpani and organ. Penned in the 1960s when Bernstein was also composing for Broadway, the Chichester Psalms treat the listener to a fascinating juxtaposition of sacred melodies set against jazz-like rhythms and sounds. Cantus Novus will also perform traditional settings of the psalm texts to complement Bernstein’s masterwork.
Our spring concert will also honor two of Bucks County’s native sons, Oscar Hammerstein and Stephen Sondheim. The program will feature many of their well-known Broadway tunes, interpreted with the singular energy and joy of Cantus Novus. Join us, along with Lenny and the Boys for a musical journey that will inspire your spirit and leave you humming familiar phrases well into summertime.
